The Learning by Making curriculum requires
technology that allows students to interact with
computer software, computer hardware, and
experimental lab setups.
This month we are excited to put the spotlight on the UC-registered program, Learning by Making (LbyM). Housed at Sonoma State University, the program offers an integrated ninth-grade C-STEM curriculum that teaches basic coding and electronics skills as part of implementing selected NGSS performance expectations in life, earth and physical science.
The Learning by Making program contains many dimensions—
from coding, to professional development, to career pathways—
that, together, create a unique and innovative STEM learning
experience.
US Department of Education awards $4 million grant to expand
Learning by Making program to Sonoma and Lake counties.
I have been a teacher in the Learning by Making program since the very beginning.
Each summer since 2014, we gather together for the week-long Summer Institute
with SSU.

the Teacher Institute on June 14-18.
We are thrilled to announce that the new Learning by
Making STEM course has launched at the six partner i3
schools in Mendocino County this Fall.
